JJP Announces Theater Competition at Sea
The Joe Jefferson Players community theater is hosting a fundraising
cruise featuring a one-act play competition onboard the ship. The cruise takes place on the Carnival Fantasy departing
New Orleans on July 7th, for a five night cruise to Progresso and Cozumel, Mexico.
"This is a chance for actors
and non-actors alike to participate on stage or just sit back and enjoy some theatrical entertainment in addition to the Vegas
and Broadway-style shows that are regularly performed on the ship," said John Richards of CruiseOne who is coordinating
the cruise.
Anyone who is signed up for the cruise is encouraged to get involved with one of the groups that
will be performing in the competition. The shows will be short one-act plays with roles of various sizes.
"This
is not a high-pressure professional competition," said Richards, "it's all strictly for fun and our own enjoyment."
On the final day of the cruise, all guests will be invited to a cocktail party and awards show.
Proceeds
from the cruise will benefit the Joe Jefferson Playhouse. Rates start at $674.33 per person. To book your cruise,
or for more information, contact John Richards of CruiseOne at (251) 471-2628 or visit www.communitytheatrecruise.com.
All participants are encouraged to book by April 25, so casting requests and selection of plays can begin.
